Overview
The redesign of Marketplace on Facebook.com solved many problems that had manifested over the years. It aimed to modernize Marketplace by bringing Facebook's new design system, Tetra, to the forefront and was built on top of a new progressive web app tech stack. Marketplace was one of the first products to adopt the new framework and helped influence its future direction.

My Role
My task was to design a monetization strategy that allows monetization through relevant touchpoints, while ensuring the customers have a seamless experience
My goal here was to find those relevant touchpoints where we could educate users about the paid product and present and opportunity for monetization.

Problem
Our research team identified 3 primary problems with the old designs:
✦ Slow
Facebook.com was slow to load when compared to other sites, and people were bouncing.
✦ Dated
People unanimously agreed that Facebook.com looked visually dated and out of touch with modern website design.
✦ Cluttered
People felt the website was cluttered and overwhelming, especially when compared to other websites like Instagram and other competitors.

How might we make Marketplace fast, modern, and relevant?
